Superstar Rajinikanth’s much-awaited 173rd film has officially received its title. The makers unveiled the title and first-look poster of the film on Wednesday, creating excitement among fans across the country.
Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, the film has been titled Dharman.
The announcement was made during the film’s puja ceremony, which took place in Chennai in the presence of the cast and crew members.
Rajinikanth Appears in a Striking New Avatar
The first-look poster presents Rajinikanth in a completely different look. The superstar is seen wearing blue medical scrubs while holding a blood-stained scalpel in his hand.
Additionally, the poster shows him standing over a man lying on the ground, hinting at an intense and action-packed storyline.
The makers shared the poster with the tagline “Dharmame Vellum,” which translates to “Justice Will Prevail.” The phrase has already sparked discussions among fans about the film’s central theme.
Rajinikanth to Play a Doctor
During the launch event, director Ashwath Marimuthu confirmed that Rajinikanth will portray a doctor in the film.
However, the filmmaker clarified that Dharman will not be limited to a medical drama. Instead, it will be a complete commercial entertainer that combines family emotions, thrilling moments, and mass-action elements.
As a result, expectations surrounding the project have increased significantly.

The film also features actresses Simran and Raashi Khanna in important roles.

A Project That Faced Multiple Director Changes
The journey of Dharman has not been smooth.
The project was initially announced in 2025 with director Sundar C attached to helm the film. However, he later stepped away from the project due to unforeseen circumstances.
Following his exit, filmmaker Cibi Chakravarthy joined the project and worked on its pre-production. Nevertheless, he also eventually left the film.
Later, Ashwath Marimuthu, known for directing successful films such as the movie Oh My Kadavule and the movie Dragon, took charge of the project and is now leading the film to production.
