Actor thanks fans, family after cheque bounce case hearing
February 22, 2026: After days of uncertainty, Rajpal Yadav was released from Tihar Jail on Tuesday evening after the Delhi High Court granted him temporary relief in a cheque bounce case. The court allowed his release after he deposited Rs 1.5 crore to the complainant and sought time to attend a family wedding on February 19. Soon after walking out, the actor travelled to his native village in Uttar Pradesh to attend his niece’s wedding. In a conversation with UP Tak, he said he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, adding, “I haven’t even checked my phone properly yet.”
Reflecting on his three-decade journey since moving to Mumbai in 1997, Rajpal said the affection of audiences across generations has been his biggest reward. He credited his wife Radha for being his strongest pillar of support through the years, especially during this challenging phase. The actor also acknowledged encouragement from members of the film fraternity, including his Mujhse Shaadi Karogi co-star Salman Khan, and spoke warmly about his bond with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, recalling their early struggles and shared meals during their formative years.
As part of the court’s conditions, Rajpal has been directed to surrender his passport and cannot leave the country without prior approval. He must appear, physically or virtually, at the next hearing scheduled for March 18. Addressing the controversy, the actor said he plans to present his side of the story at a press conference with his legal team and requested time before speaking in detail. For now, he appears focused on gratitude and reconnecting with loved ones after his release.
