The anticipation for Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus, Ramayana, has reached a fever pitch following an official update from the “Monster” himself. Yash, who is not only portraying the formidable Ravana but also serving as a producer on the project, confirmed the release window while attending CinemaCon in Las Vegas.
The Diwali 2026 Spectacle
During a conversation with Michael Sandoval, Yash solidified the timeline for the first chapter of the duology. He stated that the team is eyeing the last week of October 2026, perfectly aligning with the Diwali festivities. While earlier reports specifically pointed toward October 30, 2026, Yash’s confirmation of a late-October window ensures the film will capitalize on one of India’s biggest holiday weekends.
“Ramayana, we are planning this year [2026]. This year, Diwali, which is in October last week… I feel that experiencing it on the big screen, with today’s technology, could make it feel even more immersive and unique,” Yash shared.
A Global Vision for an Ancient Epic
Yash emphasized that the goal is to create a “universal” experience that transcends cultural boundaries. By utilizing cutting-edge visual effects and the latest cinematic technology, Tiwari’s adaptation aims to be the most definitive version of the epic ever put to film. The actor noted that the story’s endurance over centuries is a testament to its “substance,” which the film hopes to capture for modern global audiences.
Star-Studded Ensemble & Production Details
The film boasts one of the most expensive and high-profile casts in Indian cinematic history:
- Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram
- Sai Pallavi as Sita
- Yash as Ravana
- Sunny Deol as Hanuman
- Ravie Dubey as Lakshman
The project is structured as a duology, with Part 1 arriving in late 2026 and Part 2 expected to follow during Diwali 2027. This two-part strategy allows the filmmakers to delve deep into the intricate narrative of the Ramayana without compromising on the scale or emotional weight of the journey.
