Actor Ranveer Singh has finally reacted after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against him in connection with his exit from Don 3.

The controversy escalated on Monday after FWICE publicly announced that none of its affiliated members would work with the actor until the matter is formally resolved. The decision came months after filmmaker Farhan Akhtar reportedly approached the federation with a complaint regarding Ranveer’s withdrawal from the project.

Breaking his silence, Ranveer Singh’s official spokesperson released a statement stressing the actor’s respect for the film industry and everyone associated with the Don franchise.

“Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect,” the statement read.

The spokesperson further said that despite growing speculation and public narratives surrounding the issue, Ranveer intentionally avoided making public comments.

“While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead,” the statement added.

The actor also extended goodwill towards the makers of the franchise.

“He continues to hold deep respect and goodwill for all those involved and sincerely wishes the franchise continued success. Choosing restraint and grace in moments like these has always been a conscious decision on his part, and he will continue to maintain the same stance,” the spokesperson concluded.

Why FWICE Issued The Directive

FWICE’s action follows a complaint allegedly filed by Farhan Akhtar on April 11 regarding Ranveer Singh’s sudden exit from the film.

At a press conference, FWICE Chief Advisor and Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association President Ashok Pandit detailed the sequence of events that led to the federation’s decision.

According to Pandit, Farhan informed the federation that Ranveer withdrew from the film barely three weeks before the unit was scheduled to leave for shooting, causing major disruptions to production plans.

“The issue began on April 11 when Farhan filed a complaint with FWICE. He stated that he wanted to meet us and register a complaint against actor Ranveer Singh,” Ashok Pandit said.

Pandit further revealed that FWICE followed due process and invited both parties to present their side. Producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani reportedly attended the meeting, with Farhan joining virtually from London.

“For nearly two hours, they explained their complaint and narrated the sequence of events as to why they had to take this step,” Pandit stated.

FWICE Claims Ranveer Ignored Multiple Notices

According to FWICE, the federation sent reminders to Ranveer Singh every 10 to 15 days requesting him to appear before the body and explain his side of the matter.

Pandit claimed that three formal notices were sent to the actor but no response was received initially.

However, after FWICE announced its press conference, Ranveer’s team reportedly sent an email questioning the federation’s jurisdiction in the dispute.

FWICE President BN Tiwari said the issue extends beyond a disagreement between an actor and producer and directly impacts the livelihood of film workers.

“When a film is made, thousands of workers get employment. When a film suddenly stops, junior artists and daily wage workers also suffer financial losses,” Tiwari said.

He also asserted that no actor, regardless of stardom, is above industry regulations.

“A strong message needs to be sent to the industry — even if someone is a superstar, they are not above the rules and regulations,” he added.

Announcing the final decision, Tiwari confirmed that FWICE had issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh with immediate effect.

“The Federation issues a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer starting right now, and none of our members will work with him,” he declared.

Don 3 Controversy Continues To Intensify

The latest development marks a significant escalation in the ongoing Don 3 controversy, which has remained in the spotlight ever since reports emerged about tensions between Ranveer Singh and the film’s makers.

The dispute has also reignited conversations in the film industry about contractual obligations, production losses, and the growing role of industry bodies like FWICE in resolving professional conflicts.
