Television superstar Rupali Ganguly, widely known for her titular role in Anupamaa, has come out in strong support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the official implementation of the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. The historic law, which reserves 33% of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, officially came into effect on April 16, 2026.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ganguly expressed her gratitude and highlighted the shift in the political landscape for women. She emphasized that the move is a matter of right rather than a favor, praising the Prime Minister’s vision for female empowerment.
“This truly reflects what many women feel today. Empowerment is our right, not anyone’s generosity. That’s the kind of leadership mindset that inspires confidence,” she tweeted.
Kangana Ranaut and the “Flag Bearer of Feminism”
Rupali isn’t the only celebrity-turned-political voice celebrating the milestone. Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut also delivered a stirring speech in the Lok Sabha, hailing PM Modi as a champion for women’s rights. Ranaut pointed out that the achievements of the last decade—ranging from housing schemes to inducting women into defense forces—have solidified the Prime Minister’s reputation among the “daughters of India.”
Kangana’s Take: “One thing is certain: he is in a hurry to give justice to women. He is the flag bearer of feminism.”
A New Era for Indian Politics
The 106th Constitutional Amendment is being viewed as a transformative step for the world’s largest democracy. PM Modi took to social media to share his confidence in the nation’s female leaders, stating that their experience and contributions will be invaluable in “enriching the House and the nation.”
As the law takes root, the 2026 political calendar is already seeing a surge in social media support from women across various sectors, signaling a major shift toward more inclusive governance in India.
