Salman Khan’s much-awaited film Maatrubhumi, formerly titled Battle of Galwan, has reportedly hit another hurdle ahead of its release. According to a report, the film has not yet received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), adding fresh uncertainty to its release plans.

The film was originally scheduled to hit theatres in April 2026 but was postponed without a revised release date. In recent months, reports also suggested that portions of the film were being reshot after the makers were allegedly advised against using the word “China” in the narrative. However, neither the filmmakers nor the production team have officially confirmed those reports.

The latest report claims that the CBFC has withheld the film’s certification until further notice. While there were speculations that Maatrubhumi could arrive in theatres during the Independence Day weekend in August, the makers have not announced any new release date or commented on the reported certification issue.

Earlier, director Apoorva Lakhia had explained the decision to change the film’s title from Battle of Galwan to Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. He said the film goes beyond depicting a military conflict and focuses on the humanity, sacrifice and emotional struggles of soldiers. According to the filmmaker, the new title better reflects the heart of the story and aligns with a song featured in the film that received a positive response from audiences.
