Salman Khan’s upcoming film Maatrubhumi has once again found itself in the spotlight after reports claimed that the movie was facing issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The speculation suggested that the certification process had been put on hold, delaying the film’s release plans and adding to the uncertainty surrounding one of the actor’s most anticipated projects.
However, Salman Khan Films (SKF) has firmly dismissed these claims, calling them “entirely baseless.” In an official statement shared on social media, the production house clarified that the film has not yet even been submitted to the CBFC for certification, directly contradicting the reports circulating online.
The statement further emphasized that there are no issues with the censor board and urged media outlets and individuals to avoid spreading unverified information. It added that any official updates regarding Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace will only be shared through the production house’s official channels, reinforcing that current rumours have no factual basis.
Despite the clarification, the online conversation around the film continues to grow, with fans reacting strongly to the ongoing speculation. Several social media users expressed skepticism about the film’s theatrical potential, with many suggesting that Maatrubhumi should skip theatres altogether and release directly on OTT platforms.
Some netizens wrote that they were not interested in watching the film in cinemas and urged the makers to consider a digital release instead. A section of users also questioned the film’s creative direction and suggested that an OTT release would be more suitable given the current expectations.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Maatrubhumi was initially titled Battle of Galwan before being renamed. The film stars Salman Khan in the lead role alongside Chitrangada Singh and has been among the most discussed upcoming Bollywood releases due to its subject matter and production scale.
As rumours continue to circulate online, the makers have reiterated that audiences should rely only on official updates, while fans remain divided between waiting for a theatrical release and opting for an OTT premiere.
