Chennai: Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has revealed the physical toll that filming her upcoming movie Maa Inti Bangaaram took on her, saying she suffered injuries and even bled while performing the film’s action sequences.

Speaking at the film’s pre-release event in Chennai on Wednesday, Samantha shared details about the demanding stunt work that went into the project, which is scheduled to hit theatres on June 19.

The actress explained that the film’s action scenes were intentionally designed to feel grounded and realistic, avoiding many of the stylised elements commonly seen in commercial cinema.

‘There Are No Flying Shots or Slow-Motion Sequences’

When asked about the realism of the action scenes, Samantha said the filmmakers wanted the combat sequences to feel authentic rather than exaggerated.

“If you watch the film, there are no slow-motion sequences, no flying shots and no build-up shots. It’s extremely realistic. The punches are real,” Samantha said.

The actress went on to reveal that she personally experienced the impact of filming the intense action scenes.

“I too have suffered blows. I’ve bled. These are extremely realistic action sequences. I performed all the action sequences myself. That’s why everybody likes the action and it looks authentic,” she added.

Her comments have further heightened anticipation for the film, particularly among fans eager to see Samantha in a physically demanding action-oriented role.

CBFC Clears Film With U/A Certificate

Maa Inti Bangaaram, directed by Nandini Reddy, has already received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A certificate ahead of its theatrical release.

The film has generated significant buzz following the release of its trailer, which offered audiences a glimpse into a story that blends family drama, comedy and action.

Trailer Hints at a Hidden Past

The trailer begins with Samantha’s character arriving at her boyfriend’s family home, where she is immediately subjected to a series of personal questions.

Family members ask her about her name, background, caste, cooking skills and family details, making her feel less like a guest and more like someone being interrogated.

However, the trailer quickly hints that there is much more to her than meets the eye.

At one point, Samantha’s character responds with a question of her own: “Do you know who I really am?”

The narrative suggests that her boyfriend has waited two years for her, and her arrival at the family home marks the beginning of a larger story involving secrets, family expectations and hidden identities.

Challenging Traditional Expectations

One of the trailer’s most talked-about moments comes when Samantha’s character reflects on society’s expectations of an ideal daughter-in-law.

She points out that women are often expected to be beautiful, slim, polite, talented and skilled in household responsibilities.

“A daughter-in-law is expected to possess many qualities to be seen as the ideal woman. She should be beautiful, slim, well-behaved, and know how to cook and sing,” she says.

She then challenges those expectations with a powerful statement.

“I have none of those qualities. But I do have one quality. I can risk everything to keep my family safe.”

The dialogue appears to set the tone for a character who is willing to go to extraordinary lengths to protect those she loves.

Action Takes Centre Stage

As the trailer progresses, Samantha is seen engaging in multiple high-intensity fight sequences, taking on several adversaries and showcasing a side of her character that contrasts sharply with the traditional family setting.

One scene features her confronting a villain in a tense exchange. When questioned about her aggressive approach, she responds with a punchline that has already gained attention online.

“Whether it’s a hero or a housewife, when the dialogue lands right, it can scare anyone,” she says.

The trailer strongly suggests that Samantha’s character is hiding a mysterious past connected to violence, action and conflict—elements that gradually begin to surface as the story unfolds.
