The latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, celebrating World Laughter Day, witnessed a high-voltage comedic face-off between the new age of digital comedy and the traditional stage. Stand-up star Samay Raina and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps) made their highly anticipated appearance on the Netflix series on Saturday, May 1, 2026.

However, the atmosphere turned electric when veteran comedian Sunil Pal made a surprise entry, leading to an awkward yet hilarious confrontation following Pal’s recent “Atankvaadi” (terrorist) remarks against the duo.

The “Chappal” Roast That Went Viral

The highlight of the evening occurred when host Kapil Sharma questioned Sunil Pal about his unconventional choice of footwear wearing simple flip-flops (chappals) to the high-profile premiere of his film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.

While Pal tried to explain that he wanted to maintain a “unique” identity amidst the Bollywood glamour, Samay Raina seized the moment for a brutal roast. Referring to Sunil’s previous verbal attacks, Samay quipped, “Yeh chappal mein ghoomte hain, joota toh inko pad jaata hai kahin se…” (He walks around in flip-flops because he usually gets ‘the boot’ or hit with shoes anyway).

The sharp dig, referencing the public backlash Pal often receives for his controversial statements, left Kapil Sharma, Archana Puran Singh, and Navjot Singh Sidhu in fits of laughter.

“Aatankvaadi” Controversy Rehashed

The tension between the two stems from the recent “India’s Got Latent” row, where Sunil Pal had publicly labeled Samay and Ranveer as “terrorists” of comedy, suggesting they should be jailed for a decade for their “vulgar” content. When Kapil brought up the remark, Sunil stood his ground, saying, “What I don’t understand is terrorism to me.”

Samay, known for his quick wit, didn’t stop at the shoe joke. He pivoted to a more personal (and playful) jab, asking Sunil, “I have no problem with you sir, but just one thing—why don’t you brush your teeth, man?” While the insults were sharp, the duo eventually shared a hug, signaling that in the world of comedy, even the bitterest “Latent” feuds can be turned into punchlines.

World Laughter Day Special

The episode also featured Navjot Singh Sidhu making a grand return to the guest chair, adding to the nostalgic yet fresh vibe of the show. Despite the heavy “roasting,” the episode highlighted the generational shift in Indian comedy, bridging the gap between television veterans and YouTube disruptors.
