Ever since filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga unveiled the first poster of Spirit on January 1, the internet has been buzzing with speculation. Featuring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri in an intense, raw setup, the poster has prompted fans to decode its symbolism and guess the film’s narrative. Now, Sandeep has added fuel to the discussion by dropping subtle hints about the characters and their relationship.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga recently appeared in a promotional video alongside Prabhas, Malavika Mohanan, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Riddhi Kumar, shared on the People Media Factory YouTube channel. During the conversation, the director addressed the reactions to Spirit’s poster and clarified some of the assumptions viewers made.
Referring to the alcohol bottle seen in Prabhas’ hand, Sandeep said, “That’s a one-litre bottle, but it looks like a glass in his hand. People also thought another glass was placed on the railing, and that both husband and wife are drinking in the poster.” With this comment, the filmmaker subtly hinted that Prabhas and Triptii’s characters may be portrayed as a married couple in the film.
Prabhas, clearly impressed by the visual, asked Sandeep how he came up with the idea for the poster. Responding to this, the director explained, “That is cut from a scene of the film, and I thought about how I should present him after Baahubali. It had to be something strong.” Praising the director’s vision, Prabhas called it his best poster so far, adding, “It is a cult poster. No doubt.”
The Spirit poster shows Prabhas with long hair, a thick beard and moustache, standing shirtless with his back facing the camera. His bruised body, bandages across his shoulder and arms, a cigarette in his mouth, and a glass of alcohol in hand give the image a gritty tone. Triptii Dimri stands close to him in a simple saree, calmly lighting his cigarette, adding emotional depth to the frame.
Apart from Prabhas and Triptii, Spirit also stars Vivek Oberoi, Kanchana, and Prakash Raj. Prabhas is believed to be playing a cop, while Triptii essays his love interest. Earlier reports suggested that Deepika Padukone was initially considered for the role but stepped away due to work-hour concerns, after which Triptii was finalised.
