Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has celebrated a major milestone for global cricket with the unveiling of the Knight Riders Cricket Ground in Pomona, Los Angeles. Developed by the Knight Riders Group, the new venue will serve as the home ground of the Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket (MLC) and is expected to play a significant role in cricket’s return at the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
Sharing an emotional video on social media, Shah Rukh Khan described the occasion as the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream. “What started as a dream… turns into reality today. Welcoming you all to the Knight Riders Cricket Ground, LA,” he said. The actor added that the venue is more than just a cricket stadium, calling it a place where sports, entertainment, families, and unforgettable memories will come together. He also thanked ICC Chairman Jay Shah, ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta, and everyone who contributed to making the ambitious project a reality.
Located at Fairplex in Pomona, California, the stadium is part of a reported $21 million investment by the Knight Riders Group. The venue will initially have a seating capacity of around 5,000 spectators, with plans to expand it to 12,000 seats by 2027 and 15,000 seats ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, reflecting cricket’s growing popularity in the United States.
The stadium is expected to host the Los Angeles Knight Riders’ home matches in the 2026 Major League Cricket season while also becoming one of the key venues as cricket makes its historic return to the Olympic Games after a 128-year absence. The project highlights the Knight Riders Group’s commitment to expanding the sport beyond its traditional markets.
The unveiling also strengthens the Knight Riders’ global presence, adding another milestone to a franchise that already includes the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, and Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20. With a dedicated cricket stadium now established in Los Angeles, Shah Rukh Khan’s vision of promoting cricket on a global stage has taken another significant step forward.
