May 28, 2025: Joshua Jackson is opening up about a surprising mistake he made while filming Karate Kid: Legends — and it involved his 5-year-old daughter, Juno.

Speaking at the film’s premiere on Tuesday, May 27, Jackson told PEOPLE that bringing his daughter to set during a fight scene was a “really stupid” decision.“She came out to visit Montreal for five, six days because my brother lives there. It was a family trip,” he shared. “I brought her on set the day we were doing the fight scene. That was really dumb. She did not like seeing her dad get beat up.”

This emotional moment marked the first time he’d brought Juno, whom he shares with actress Jodie Turner-Smith, to work. Jackson admitted he won’t watch the movie with her just yet:“I don’t think I’ll watch it with her during the theatrical run, but within a couple of years, we’ll be okay.”Despite the misstep, Jackson is excited about their upcoming plans. “She graduates TK [Transitional Kindergarten] in a couple of weeks, then we’ve got summer camp — we’ll figure it out from there.”

In Karate Kid: Legends, Jackson plays Victor, a former boxing champ and pizzeria owner. For the role, the actor went through a mind-blowing body transformation, gaining 20 pounds.“I walk around at 175. I was almost 195 for the film,” he revealed. “It was harder than I thought. I was eating 4,000 calories a day.”He laughed off the challenge, saying the toughest part wasn’t the punches — it was the eating:“It seems like it should be easy and fun, but turns out it’s not.”

Karate Kid: Legends hits theaters Friday, May 30 — but it looks like one little fan will have to wait a bit longer to see it.
