Sophia Bush Set To Join The Cast Of “Grey’s Anatomy” As A New Trauma Surgeon

October 17, 2024: Sophia Bush has officially joined the cast of “Grey’s Anatomy” for its 21st season, where she will portray Dr. Cass Beckman, a new trauma surgeon at Seattle Presbyterian.

Bush’s character is described as friendly, fun-loving, and a bit chaotic, bringing a dynamic new presence to the iconic medical drama, which is set to return on November 7, 2024, as reported by Deadline.

Dr. Cass Beckman is married to David Beckman, a cardiothoracic surgeon at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, though David’s role is expected to be minor. This marks Bush’s first appearance in the “Grey’s Anatomy” universe, adding to her already impressive portfolio, which includes notable roles in “One Tree Hill” and “Chicago P.D.”. Bush previously starred as a heart surgeon in the CBS series “Good Sam”, where she also served as an executive producer.

Returning cast members for the new season include Scott Speedman, Natalie Morales, and Debbie Allen, who continues to direct and serve as an executive producer on the show.

In addition to “Grey’s Anatomy,” Bush is set to reprise her fan-favorite role as Brooke Davis in a “One Tree Hill” sequel series, currently in development at Netflix, alongside her former co-star Hilarie Burton Morgan. The two, along with Bethany Joy Lenz, also co-host the “Drama Queens” podcast, where they revisit and discuss episodes of the beloved teen drama.

Beyond her television work, Bush hosts the podcast “Work in Progress” and recently starred in Bryan Greenberg’s directorial debut, “Junction”.
