Sunita Ahuja has opened up about her relationship with actor Govinda, saying that despite facing difficult moments over the years, she has never considered leaving him. Her comments come shortly after she became the first contestant to exit Netflix’s reality show Lock Upp due to health reasons.
Govinda and their daughter, Tina Ahuja, appeared on the show to accompany Sunita after her exit. During her brief stay in the reality show, Sunita also spoke about rumours surrounding Govinda’s alleged affairs, which once again brought their relationship into the spotlight.
Sunita Says Trust Is the Foundation of Marriage
In a recent interview with The Free Press Journal, Sunita spoke honestly about trust in relationships, especially when married to someone from the film industry.
She said she does not believe any film hero has a completely spotless image because actors spend a significant amount of time working with actresses. However, she added that the strength of a relationship depends on how partners handle such situations and how much trust they have in each other.
According to Sunita, becoming the wife of a film star requires emotional strength and patience.
‘I Still Love Him Like I Did at 15’
Sunita revealed that she fell in love with Govinda when she was just 15 years old. Now at 56, she says her feelings for him remain unchanged.
She shared that she has forgiven Govinda many times during their marriage. At the same time, she admitted that she may have made mistakes as well.
Sunita also revealed that Govinda often jokes by saying she is “not his wife but his child.” She believes that genuine love gives people the strength to forgive and move forward instead of holding on to past mistakes.
Divorce Rumours Continued to Make Headlines
Speculation about Govinda and Sunita’s marriage has been circulating since last year.
The rumours gained attention after Sunita discussed several personal aspects of their relationship during media interviews. Reports later claimed that she had allegedly sent a legal separation notice to Govinda a few months earlier. However, no further legal action reportedly followed.
Despite these reports, there has been no official confirmation that the couple has separated.

Last year, Govinda and Sunita appeared together during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, where they dismissed rumours about their relationship.
Speaking to the media, Sunita pointed out that if there had been serious problems between them, they would not have appeared together so comfortably. She confidently said that no one, whether a human, God or even the devil, could separate them.
Her public statement was seen as a strong response to ongoing divorce rumours.
A Marriage That Has Lasted Nearly Four Decades
Govinda and Sunita Ahuja got married in March 1987. The couple kept their marriage private for some time and publicly revealed it only after the birth of their daughter, Tina Ahuja, in 1988.
Several years later, they welcomed their son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, in 1997.
Despite repeated speculation about their relationship over the years, Sunita’s latest remarks suggest that she continues to stand by Govinda and believes forgiveness and trust remain the strongest pillars of their marriage.
