“When I did Damini, Raj Santoshi had directed it. At that time, I was struggling, and it was a small character. I never imagined my character would become so big,” Sunny said.

Although the role earned immense appreciation and remains one of Bollywood’s most iconic courtroom performances, Sunny said he rarely received similar offers afterwards.

‘We Tried So Much To Make Damini 2

Sunny revealed that he had always wanted to return to the courtroom genre and hoped to do so through a sequel to Damini.

“After Damini, I didn’t get a chance to play a lawyer. I was very happy when Ikka was offered to me. We tried so much to bring Damini 2, but that didn’t happen,” he shared.

Recalling their long association, Sunny spoke fondly about working with Akshaye again.

“Akshaye and I first worked together on Border, and that was the first film we did together. We had a lot of fun then, and we had just as much fun on this film as well,” he said.

The actor also praised Akshaye’s personality, describing him as someone who prefers to stay away from the spotlight.

“I have known him for so many years. He’s even more aloof than I am, but he is a gem of a guy,” Sunny added.
