Speculation surrounding the release of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s final film, Jana Nayagan, has gained fresh momentum after a Canada-based distributor hinted at a possible theatrical release on July 24. While the makers have yet to make an official announcement, the latest development has reignited excitement among fans eagerly awaiting the actor-turned-politician’s swansong.
Originally slated for release in January 2026, Jana Nayagan faced multiple delays due to issues related to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The prolonged certification process forced the makers to postpone the film’s theatrical debut, leaving fans waiting for months. Recent reports now suggest that the certification process is nearing completion, paving the way for the film’s long-awaited release.
The latest buzz began after Canada-based distributor York Cinemas shared a post on X (formerly Twitter), announcing that Jana Nayagan would arrive in Canadian theatres from July 24. The post described the release as the “ultimate theatrical celebration,” prompting widespread speculation that the same date could also be planned for the film’s worldwide release.
According to reports, the filmmakers have complied with all the modifications recommended by the CBFC, with the censor certificate expected to be issued shortly. Once the certification formalities are completed, the production team is reportedly expected to officially announce the release date. Overseas distributors have also reportedly been asked to prepare for a July 24 theatrical rollout.
Some industry reports suggest that the film could alternatively release on July 23, depending on the final distribution strategy. However, neither KVN Productions nor the film’s producers have officially confirmed either date, leaving fans awaiting an official announcement.
Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan features an ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Prakash Raj and Mamitha Baiju alongside Vijay. The film is widely regarded as the superstar’s farewell project before dedicating himself fully to his political career as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
