Los Angeles, California—July 27, 2025— “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is Marvel Studios’ first original hit in six years, and it broke recent patterns at the box office. It is expected that the movie would make over $220 million globally in its first weekend. Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn plays Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Ben Grimm.

Box office experts had predicted that the US and Canada would make roughly $120 million from Thursday to Sunday, which is more than the previous projection of $115 million. “First Steps” has opened a new chapter for Marvel’s First Family, which first appeared in comics in 1961. It is expected to make an extra $100 million from international markets.

Marvel Studios is really happy with how well the movie has been received, especially since they have had a rough patch with movies that weren’t sequels. Movies like “Eternals” from 2021 and “Thunderbolts*” from this May, which made $382 million worldwide (the lowest in Marvel’s 17-year, 37-film history when adjusted for inflation), made people worry about “superhero fatigue” and the studio’s creative direction. Some of Marvel’s most recent sequels have also had mixed outcomes.

“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is the fifth movie based on the famous comic book characters. Early reviews have been mostly positive, which suggests that the movie will be a critical hit that matches its commercial success. The movie, which is said to have cost at least $300 million to make and market throughout the world, seems to have struck a chord with fans, giving them a new look at the beloved squad.

Marvel Studios needs this movie to do well in order to get back to being known as a studio that makes hits in Hollywood. This good start establishes a good tone for the franchise and maybe even for the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe as it looks ahead to future chapters.
