The marriage of viral “Kumbh Mela girl” Monalisa Bhosle and actor Farman Khan has triggered a controversy, with some calling it “love jihad.”

Filmmaker Sanoj Mishra has filed a police complaint alleging the involvement of the banned Popular Front of India. Mishra claimed the case was serious given Monalisa’s influence among young followers and alleged that Khan had concealed his identity to gain her family’s trust.
Mishra further alleged links between Khan and individuals associated with protests, claiming the marriage was part of a larger conspiracy.
He also questioned the speed of the marriage registration and accused the couple of insulting religious sentiments. The wedding took place at a temple in Thiruvananthapuram, reportedly in the presence of police after Monalisa expressed concerns about family pressure.
However, both Monalisa and Farman Khan have strongly denied all allegations. Monalisa stated that the marriage was conducted as per Hindu rituals and rejected the “love jihad” narrative. Khan also dismissed the claims, saying religion was never a barrier in their relationship and that he respected her beliefs.
