When Neetu felt Insecure Over Rishi Kapoor’s Reunion with Dimple Kapadia

October 28, 2024: Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor shared a marriage spanning nearly four decades until his passing in 2020. While they faced ups and downs, Neetu stood by Rishi’s side through it all. Rishi often spoke about Neetu’s unwavering support, even as she paused her own career after their marriage to focus on family, while his stardom continued to grow. However, in his biography Khullam Khulla, Rishi candidly shared that Neetu once felt threatened when he reunited with his Bobby co-star Dimple Kapadia for the film Saagar.

Rishi and Dimple first worked together in Bobby, which was a massive hit and marked the beginning of their careers. There was a strong connection between them at the time, sparking rumors. Many years later, in 1985, they were cast together in Saagar. By then, Rishi and Neetu were settled with two children, while Dimple had recently separated from Rajesh Khanna.

Rishi recalled how Neetu admitted to feeling insecure about his reunion with Dimple, even though she had no need to worry. He said, “Dimple was a friend, even if she may have been a little more than that during Bobby. Ten years had gone by; she was coming out of a marriage, and I was well-settled. I have never let Neetu down. I am a happily married man with a loving, supportive wife.”

Rishi acknowledged that he and Dimple were in very different places by the time they worked on Saagar. He described Dimple as being eager to prove herself as an actress and shared that her sister Simple was a strong support during this period. They worked together again years later in Pyaar Mein Twist (2005).

Rishi expressed his appreciation for Neetu’s grace regarding Saagar, stating, “Neetu must have had some reservations, but she was very dignified about the whole thing.” He admitted that any challenges in their relationship were often due to him, never another woman. Rishi concluded, “If there was an Oscar for the best partner, for being there for better or for worse, she would get it.”
