Arshad Warsi, widely celebrated as Bollywood’s “Circuit,” marks his 58th birthday today, April 19, 2026. While the world knows him for his impeccable comic timing and versatile acting, a deeply personal and somber side of his life has recently come to light.

In a candid conversation on Raj Shamani’s podcast, the actor revealed a poignant truth about his upbringing: he never once lied to his parents. Growing up with his father, Ahmed Ali Khan, Arshad described a bond built on such profound trust and mutual respect that deceit was never a necessity. His father treated him like a friend, fostering a grounded and honest personality that has remained with him throughout his journey in the film industry.

However, behind the laughter he brings to the screen lies a haunting memory from his past. Arshad shared that his childhood was largely spent in boarding schools from the age of eight, leaving him with few domestic memories.

The most painful of these involves the passing of his mother. Struggling with kidney failure and undergoing regular dialysis, she was strictly forbidden by doctors to consume water. Arshad recalled a tragic night when his mother repeatedly pleaded for a drink. Adhering to medical advice and wanting to save her, he refused. Tragically, she passed away that very night. To this day, the actor admits he carries a heavy sense of guilt, feeling responsible for denying her last request.

Despite these personal scars, Arshad Warsi’s professional trajectory remains an inspiration. Before becoming a household name with Tere Mere Sapne in 1996, he grinded behind the scenes as an assistant director to Mahesh Bhatt and even choreographed for Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. Today, as he celebrates another year, fans and colleagues are honoring not just the “Circuit” they love on screen, but the resilient man who turned his struggles into a stellar career, spanning decades and earning multiple accolades, including a Filmfare Award.
