May 31, 2025: Global pop icon Shakira has cancelled two major concerts within 48 hours, sparking a wave of concern and speculation among fans. The cancellations include a scheduled performance at Boston’s Fenway Park and the opening act of World Pride 2025 in Washington, D.C.

While rumors swirled about the singer’s health following a recent on-stage fall, representatives have clarified that the real reasons behind the cancellations were logistical issues — not injury.

World Pride 2025 Opener Cancelled

On Friday, the Capital Pride Alliance, organisers of World Pride 2025, announced that the opening ceremony’s headline performance by Shakira was called off just a day before the event.

“We are deeply disappointed that unforeseen circumstances have forced the cancellation,” the organisers said in a statement. They also confirmed that the program will be relocated and updated soon.

This performance was part of Shakira’s ongoing Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour.

Shakira expressed her regret in a heartfelt message to fans:

“Due to circumstances beyond my control, I am sad and heartbroken that I will not be able to be in Washington, DC with you tomorrow. I hope that I can come back to DC as soon as I am able.”

Boston Concert Also Axed

Just a day earlier, a joint concert scheduled at Fenway Park in Boston — featuring Shakira, Jason Aldean, and Brooks & Dunn — was also abruptly cancelled.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira, Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn performances… have been cancelled. Refunds will be available at your point of purchase,” read a statement from Fenway Park.

No Injuries Reported After Viral Stage Fall

Fans had linked the sudden cancellations to a viral video of Shakira taking a nasty fall on stage during a recent show. However, footage clearly shows the singer getting up and continuing the performance, and sources close to her confirm she was not injured.

Despite the recent setbacks, the singer remains focused on her tour and thanked fans for their continued support.

“Please know that I am eternally thankful for your unconditional support,” she added in her statement.
