In the wake of the profound loss of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle has broken her silence to share a poignant message of resilience.

Taking to social media on Thursday morning, Zanai expressed her deep gratitude for the global outpouring of support. Accompanying a serene photograph of a sunrise, she reflected on her grandmother’s wisdom, writing, “The sun rises & sets everyday and as my grandmother said, life must go on… Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out online, it gives me solace to see the love for her.”

The music icon passed away on April 12, 2026, at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital due to multiple organ failure. At 92, she had been battling deteriorating health for several months and was eventually admitted to the ICU following acute cardiac and respiratory complications. Her passing marks the end of an era for Indian cinema, where her versatile voice remained a staple for over eight decades.

Asha Bhosle was laid to rest with full state honours at the Shivaji Park Crematorium on April 13. The funeral procession, which moved from her Lower Parel residence to Dadar, saw her mortal remains draped in the national tricolour—a testament to her status as a cultural titan. Heart-wrenching footage from the ceremony showed Zanai breaking down as soldiers performed the final rites, placing the flag over a casket adorned with white lilies.
