A complaint seeking an investigation into alleged irregularities linked to Ayodhya Ram Temple donations has sparked a political confrontation
June 16, 2026: A political controversy has emerged in Uttar Pradesh after allegations related to the handling of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Temple surfaced. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticised the state government, questioning administrative accountability and alleging that governance priorities have shifted away from development and employment towards continuous investigations and inquiries. His remarks came as the issue began attracting significant public and political attention.
The controversy intensified after a complaint seeking the registration of an FIR was submitted at a police station in Ayodhya. According to reports, the complaint names several individuals connected with temple administration and management while demanding a detailed and transparent investigation. The complainant has also sought a thorough examination of all allegations and urged authorities to ensure an impartial inquiry into the matter.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has now begun its probe and is gathering information from individuals linked to the case. Investigators have reportedly conducted multiple rounds of questioning as they attempt to verify the claims and establish the facts. While opposition leaders have raised concerns over oversight and accountability, government agencies have maintained that the investigation is being conducted according to established procedures and that conclusions should not be reached before the inquiry is completed.
