West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced new welfare measures, administrative reforms

May 26, 2026: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday chaired an administrative review meeting in Kalyani with officials and representatives from North 24 Parganas, Nadia and Hooghly districts. The meeting also saw the participation of Trinamool Congress MLAs and MPs, making it a notable political development in the state. Addressing the media afterward, the Chief Minister announced a series of welfare initiatives and administrative decisions.

Adhikari said statewide public welfare camps would be organised on June 15, 16 and 17 to help citizens access benefits under both state and Central government schemes. He also announced that International Yoga Day would be celebrated across Bengal following AYUSH Ministry guidelines and revealed plans to separate the AYUSH department from the Health Department under a dedicated officer. He further confirmed that the Lakshmir Bhandar scheme would continue alongside the proposed Annapurna Yojana.

The Chief Minister stated that application forms for Annapurna Yojana would be released from Nabanna starting May 27, with both online and offline enrolment options available. He said eligible beneficiaries would begin receiving Rs 3,000 after submitting applications. Adhikari also announced subsidised fish-rice meals at Rs 5 through 400 canteens across the state and confirmed that the “Mukhyamantrike Bolo” platform would soon be replaced by a new grievance portal called “Apnar Sarkarke Bolun.”
