AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav met Sonam Wangchuk at Jantar Mantar
July 16, 2026: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday visited Jantar Mantar to meet social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged paper leak controversy. Senior AAP leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj and Sanjay Singh accompanied Kejriwal, who praised Wangchuk for his commitment and said the activist had put his life on the line for the country’s students.
Earlier in the day, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav also met Wangchuk at the protest site, where party leaders and supporters raised slogans in support of the movement. Addressing the gathering, she appealed to young people to participate in the proposed “Chalo Sansad” march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on July 20, calling it a fight for students’ rights and dignity.
During the event, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke said Dimple Yadav had requested Wangchuk to end his hunger strike on July 20, assuring that her party would continue the issue in Parliament. However, Dipke clarified that Wangchuk had not yet responded to the appeal. Several Samajwadi Party MPs and MLA Ragini Sonkar were also present to express solidarity with the activist.
