Lawyers in Ayodhya have indicated they are unlikely to represent the accused in the alleged Ram Temple donation embezzlement case, with the Faizabad Bar Association set to take a final decision during its general body meeting on Monday.

Lawyers Express Opposition to Taking the Case

According to local advocates, there is strong sentiment within the legal community against appearing on behalf of the eight accused arrested in connection with the alleged misuse of temple donations.

Bar Association President Kalika Mishra said the proposal for a collective refusal to represent the accused will be placed before the association’s general body for formal approval.

Similar Stand Taken in the Past

Members of the legal fraternity noted that a comparable decision was taken in 2005, when lawyers in Ayodhya declined to represent individuals accused in the Ram Janmabhoomi terrorist attack case.

Several advocates said the alleged misappropriation of temple offerings has deeply hurt public and professional sentiments, prompting calls for strict legal action against those accused.

Police Continue Investigation

Meanwhile, police conducted simultaneous searches at the residences of all eight accused as part of the ongoing investigation. Search operations were carried out in the presence of local magistrates at the homes of several individuals named in the case.

The accused were earlier remanded to judicial custody until June 29. Investigating officers are expected to seek police custody when they are produced before the court.

Case Remains Under Judicial Process

The investigation into the alleged embezzlement of donations at the Ram Temple is ongoing. Authorities are continuing to collect evidence and question those connected to the case.

The allegations remain under judicial consideration, and the accused are entitled to legal representation and the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty in a court of law.
