May 13, 2026: The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Wednesday, approved 18 major agenda items, including a dearness allowance (DA) hike for nearly nine lakh state government employees and pensioners. The Finance Department announced that the DA has been increased from 58 per cent to 60 per cent with effect from January 1, 2026. The Cabinet also cleared the acquisition of 100 acres of land in Vaishali district for setting up the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM).
The Cabinet further approved the Bihar Electric Vehicle (Amendment) Policy, 2026, as part of the state’s push towards cleaner transportation and sustainable development.
