In a unified front, the RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister is formally named the Chief Ministerial face for the upcoming Assembly elections.
October 23, 2025: The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar officially announced RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.
The declaration was made by senior Congress leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who is the India Congress Committee’s senior observer for the Bihar Assembly Polls. The announcement came during a press conference held by the Mahagathbandhan on Thursday.
Tejashwi Yadav, the son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, will lead the alliance’s campaign against the ruling NDA coalition. The Mahagathbandhan currently includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and other smaller parties.
The move solidifies the political strategy of the opposition coalition, placing the younger Yadav at the forefront of the electoral battle and signaling a united challenge to the incumbent government in the state. The formal announcement aims to quell any internal speculation regarding the leadership and project a singular, strong face to the electorate.
