The election battle for the Bankipur Assembly bypoll in Bihar officially began on Thursday as BJP candidate Abhishek Kumar Sinha and RJD nominee Rekha Kumari filed their nomination papers. Before filing his nomination, Sinha, popularly known as Bunty, offered prayers at local temples and sought his parents' blessings.
Political tensions have intensified in Bihar over the police encounter of Bharat Tiwari, with Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav alleging that the operation was carried out with the knowledge or approval of senior members of the state government.
