The BJP has named new state presidents in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Tripura as part of a broader organisational restructuring strategy ahead of upcoming elections.
May 28, 2026: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major organisational reshuffle by appointing new state presidents in four important states as part of its wider internal restructuring exercise. The move is being seen as a strategic effort to strengthen the party’s organisational structure and prepare for upcoming electoral battles across several regions. Party leaders indicated that the changes are aimed at energising state units and improving coordination at the grassroots level.
According to the official announcement, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra has been appointed as the new BJP Delhi state president. In Haryana, Archana Gupta has been given charge as the new state BJP chief. Meanwhile, Kewal Singh Dhillon has been appointed president of the BJP’s Punjab unit, while Abhishek Devaray will lead the party organisation in Tripura.
Party insiders said the leadership changes were under discussion for some time and form part of a larger strategy to introduce fresh leadership and improve the BJP’s electoral preparedness. The party is also expected to announce additional changes at the national organisational level in the coming days. Political observers believe the reshuffle reflects the BJP’s attempt to consolidate its position and strengthen its campaign machinery ahead of future elections.
