May 4, 2026: The counting of votes for assembly bypolls across several states has largely concluded, with results declared in most constituencies. The Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged as the top performer, winning seats like Umreth, Koridang, and Dharmanagar, and also securing Rahuri. In Maharashtra, NCP’s Sunetra Ajit Pawar is leading strongly in Baramati, while BJP’s Akshay Shivajirao Kardile has won Rahuri. In Karnataka, Congress candidate Umesh Hullappa Meti has won Bagalkot, and Samarth Shamanur Mallikarjuna is leading in Davanagere South.

Elsewhere, BJP continues its winning streak. In Gujarat’s Umreth, Harshadbhai Govindbhai Parmar has won, while in Nagaland’s Koridang, Daochier I Imchen secured victory. In Tripura’s Dharmanagar, Jahar Chakraborti has also won. These bypolls, held in April across multiple states, were conducted to fill vacant seats following the demise of sitting MLAs.
