July 18, 2025: Bomb Threat Delhi – Panic gripped the national capital on Thursday as over 45 schools across Delhi received bomb threats, prompting mass evacuations and widespread concern among students, parents, and authorities. This marks the fourth such incident in a week, with law enforcement and emergency response teams working around the clock to assess the situation.
According to Delhi Police, the threats came via emails, warning of explosive devices hidden in classrooms. Authorities responded swiftly, deploying bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs, and cyber experts to the affected schools. So far, no explosives have been found, and the threats are being treated as hoaxes, but the psychological impact on families is substantial.
Schools Targeted Across the City
The list of affected institutions spans the city, including:
- Pitampura: Maxfort Junior School, Guru Nanak School
- Dwarka: St Thomas School, GD Goenka School, DIS Edge School, Modern International School, Dwarka International School, La Petite Montessori
- Paschim Vihar: Richmond School, Doon Public School
- Rohini: Delhi Public School, Sovereign Public School, Heritage Public School, Abhinav Public School, MRG School
- South Delhi: Summerfield International School, The Indian School, Amity International School
- Central & East Delhi: St Xavier’s Sr. Secondary, Hamdard Public School, Mira Nursery School, Cambridge Foundation, Mater Dei School, Bharti Public School
- Others: The British School (Chanakyapuri), Faith Academy, Junior Delhi School, Delhi City School (Bawana), Delhi Public Schools in RK Puram, Vasant Vihar, Mathura Road, and more.
Chilling Threat Letter
In a disturbing turn, Delhi Police revealed excerpts from the bomb threat email, in which the sender spoke of planting explosives and expressed deep personal anguish, suicidal thoughts, and a distrust of the mental healthcare system. Investigators are now probing the origins of the email, suspecting a disturbed individual or group behind the threats.
Earlier Incidents and a Minor’s Involvement
This week alone, over 28 schools reported similar threats. In one shocking case, a 12-year-old student was detained for sending a threat to St Thomas School, Dwarka. The boy has since been counseled and released into the care of his family, according to DCP Dwarka Ankit Singh.
Schools affected on July 17 also included Vasant Valley School, Mother International, Richmondd Global, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, and Prudence School (multiple branches).
Authorities Urge Caution, Boost Security
Delhi Police are urging the public to remain vigilant but calm, as multiple units work to trace the IP origins and digital fingerprints of the emails. “We take every threat seriously, regardless of its credibility,” an official said.
Cybercrime experts have been roped in, and school security protocols are being revised and strengthened citywide. Educational institutions are being advised to maintain regular drills, improve surveillance, and prepare emergency response plans.
Mental Health Concerns at the Forefront
The language in the bomb threat email has also triggered a debate around mental health support systems in India, especially for the youth. Authorities are now considering a dual-track approach — law enforcement combined with mental health intervention, particularly in cases involving minors.
