A monkey remained on the tracks at Borivali Railway Station for nearly 20 minutes
July 1, 2026: Mumbai’s suburban railway network witnessed an unusual disruption on Wednesday when a monkey entered the tracks at Borivali Railway Station, causing delays to local train services. The animal remained seated near Platform No. 1 for nearly 15 to 20 minutes, forcing trains to slow down and leaving commuters waiting during peak travel hours. The incident came at a time when the city’s transport network was already struggling with rain-related disruptions caused by the ongoing monsoon.
After receiving information about the incident, personnel from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) reached the spot and launched efforts to safely remove the monkey from the tracks. Following nearly 15 minutes of operation, the animal was successfully driven away, allowing train movement to gradually return to normal. Passengers at the station, however, experienced delays as services resumed only after the tracks were cleared.
Heavy rainfall over the past several days has continued to affect Mumbai’s road and rail transport, putting additional pressure on the city’s local train network. Railway authorities said they are making continuous efforts to maintain smooth operations despite weather-related challenges. Commuters, however, continue to face frequent disruptions as the monsoon season progresses.
