The government has accepted a “breach in command” in the NEET-UG 2026 examination system after cancellation of the test
May 15, 2026: The government on Friday acknowledged a “breach in command” in the system following the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026, even as it said the process had followed recommendations of the Radhakrishnan Committee.
Addressing a press conference, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said strong action would be taken against those responsible for the alleged paper leak. He stated that the decision to cancel the examination, conducted this month, was taken in the interest of meritorious students. Pradhan added that “the NTA will be responsible” for lapses and confirmed that a detailed investigation has been initiated into the matter.
He further said that some irregularities had “come into notice” and assured that the entire process would be probed thoroughly. The government also announced that a re-examination has been scheduled for June 21.
Pradhan referred to the recommendations of the 2024 committee headed by former ISRO Chairman K. Radhakrishnan, which had strongly advocated a shift from pen-and-paper testing to computer-based examinations to improve transparency and reduce malpractice risks.
