The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has provided a significant update for the nearly 18 lakh students awaiting their Class 12 Board Exam 2026 results. In an official communication on Saturday, May 2, 2026, the Board confirmed that the evaluation process is nearing completion. Breaking the silence on the result timeline, CBSE Controller of Examinations, Sanyam Bhardwaj, stated that students can expect their scorecards to be released in the third week of May.
Official Stance on Evaluation and “Technical Issues”
Addressing recent concerns circulating on social media, Sanyam Bhardwaj dismissed reports suggesting that the Board’s newly introduced evaluation system was facing technical hurdles. Speaking to PTI, he clarified that such claims are “far away from facts” and urged the student community to remain calm. “Students should only trust official notifications from cbse.gov.in and credible news outlets,” Bhardwaj remarked, refuting allegations made by unverified social media portals regarding glitches in the marking process.
How to Check CBSE Class 12 Result 2026
To manage the heavy web traffic expected on result day, CBSE will activate multiple portals simultaneously. Students will require their Roll Number, School Number, and Admit Card ID to access their provisional marksheets.
Official Websites:
- results.cbse.nic.in
- cbse.gov.in
- cbse.nic.in
Alternative Methods: For a seamless experience, students are encouraged to use DigiLocker or the UMANG app. By linking their Aadhaar or APAAR ID to DigiLocker, candidates can download digitally signed marksheets which are legally valid for undergraduate admissions across India.
Post-Result Procedures: Re-evaluation and Verification
Once the results are declared, CBSE will open a window for students who are unsatisfied with their scores. The Board typically offers a three-step verification process:
- Verification of Marks: A basic recount of the scores.
- Obtaining Photocopy: Requesting a scanned copy of the evaluated answer sheet.
- Re-evaluation: Challenging specific answers marked by the examiners.
While the online result is provisional, schools will distribute the original certificates and migration documents approximately two weeks after the digital announcement. As of now, the Board maintains its policy of not announcing an official “Topper List” to avoid undue competition, though subject-wise merit certificates will be issued to the top 0.1% of students.
