The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is in the final stages of the evaluation process for the 2026 Board Exams, with results for Class 10 expected to be released significantly earlier than previous years.

With nearly 43 lakh students nationwide awaiting their scores, the board is working on a compressed timeline to accommodate the newly introduced second round of board exams scheduled for May 2026.

According to latest updates, the Class 10 results are likely to be declared before the last week of April 2026, while the Class 12 results are projected to arrive before the second week of May. This shift follows an accelerated evaluation strategy where examiners are utilizing On-Screen Marking to complete assessments in just nine days, down from the traditional 12-day window.

Key Evaluation & Result Policy Updates

As students and parents track the “Live” updates, several key policy details have emerged regarding the 2026 session:

  • Extra Questions: In a student-friendly move, if a candidate has attempted an extra question, the examiner will credit the answer that earned the higher marks, while the lower-scoring attempt will be disregarded.
  • Passing Criteria: Students must secure a minimum of 33 per cent overall to be declared “Pass.”
  • Improvement Exams: For the first time, students will have the opportunity to appear for a second set of exams in May to improve their scores in up to three subjects.
