The proposed Bill aims to simplify regulations, introduce time-bound approvals and promote a transparent, technology-driven business environment.
July 9, 2026: The Chhattisgarh Cabinet on Wednesday approved the draft of the Chhattisgarh Ease of Doing Business (Exemption and Facilitation) Bill, 2026, a proposed law designed to simplify regulatory procedures and reduce compliance for businesses. The government said the legislation aims to create a transparent, technology-driven framework for setting up and operating industries. If passed by the state legislature, Chhattisgarh could become the first state in India to introduce a dedicated law of this kind.
The draft Bill proposes several reforms, including a deemed permission system under which applications pending beyond the prescribed timeline would automatically be treated as approved. It also introduces self-certification for eligible businesses, third-party verification through accredited agencies, risk-based inspections, and the removal of duplicate licensing requirements across government departments to reduce procedural delays.
The state government said the proposed legislation was prepared after studying best practices adopted by industrially advanced states. It expects the reforms to improve investor confidence, attract fresh investments, support MSMEs, generate employment and create a more predictable business environment. Following Cabinet approval, the draft Bill will now be placed before the state legislature for consideration.
