Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), February 15: The cold wave continues to grip Srinagar as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 0°C on Saturday, while the maximum temperature stood at 13°C. Several other towns across the Kashmir Valley also experienced freezing temperatures, marking the peak of winter conditions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Srinagar’s minimum temperature remained at the freezing point, reflecting the ongoing harsh winter weather in the region.
Despite the cold, residents and tourists were seen enjoying the winter season around Dal Lake, with visuals capturing people relishing the breathtaking snow-covered landscapes.
❄️ Lal Draman Winter Festival 2025 Brings Cheer Amid Cold Spell
Amidst the freezing temperatures, the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, in collaboration with the District Administration, organized the ‘Lal Draman Winter Festival 2025’ on February 9 in Doda district.
✅ The event drew thousands of visitors, including tourists, locals, officials, and media personnel.

Kashmir recently endured Chillai Kalan—the coldest 40-day period of winter—which lasted from December 21 to January 31.
📌 Extreme conditions included sub-zero temperatures, frozen water bodies, and heavy snowfall, disrupting daily life.
📌 Water bodies like Dal Lake partially froze, adding to the region’s scenic beauty but also affecting transportation.
📌 Snow-covered roads led to traffic disruptions, especially in higher-altitude areas.
With the end of Chillai Kalan, residents now anticipate Chillai Khurd (20-day cold wave) and Chillai Bacha (10-day cold spell), which will gradually ease the intensity of winter.
