Congress leadership reviews the political situation, raises concerns over unemployment, exam controversies

June 11, 2026: The Congress leadership held a high-level meeting on Thursday involving general secretaries, state in-charges and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chiefs to review the current political situation and discuss the party’s future strategy. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K.C. Venugopal, Jairam Ramesh, Bhupesh Baghel and other senior leaders attended the meeting. Discussions focused on strengthening the party’s political outreach and addressing key national issues.

Addressing the gathering, Kharge said the country is facing serious challenges, including inflation, unemployment, examination irregularities and social inequality. He highlighted concerns over alleged paper leaks in NEET and recruitment examinations, stating that such incidents have shaken the confidence of millions of students and their families. Kharge also praised Rahul Gandhi’s efforts in engaging with affected youth and raising their concerns on national platforms.

The Congress chief stressed that the party’s role extends beyond political opposition and includes protecting the Constitution, democracy and social justice. The meeting took place amid controversy surrounding the rejection of Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination and ongoing political developments within the opposition camp. Leaders also reviewed efforts to strengthen INDIA bloc coordination, including recent meetings between Rahul Gandhi and Abhishek Banerjee, as well as Sonia Gandhi and Mamata Banerjee.
