Congress has demanded a Supreme Court-monitored judicial inquiry after allegations surfaced

June 23, 2026: The Congress on Tuesday demanded a Supreme Court-monitored judicial investigation into land transactions in Ujjain allegedly involving Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s family members and relatives. The demand follows a media report claiming that family-linked individuals and real estate firms acquired significant land parcels after Yadav assumed office in December 2023. Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Jitu Patwari accused the BJP government of misuse of power and called for a transparent probe into the matter.

According to the report, Yadav’s relatives and family-run companies allegedly purchased 137 plots covering around 168 acres in Ujjain for nearly ₹45 crore. The report further claimed that several of these land parcels are located near government-announced road projects and areas where land-use classifications were changed under the Ujjain Master Plan 2035. Congress leaders argued that the allegations raise serious questions about conflict of interest and accountability in public office.

Responding to the controversy, relatives of the Chief Minister denied any wrongdoing and maintained that the family has been engaged in the real estate business for over a decade. Anant Yadav, speaking on behalf of family members, said many of the transactions predated Mohan Yadav becoming Chief Minister and insisted that private individuals have the right to buy and develop land legally. Neither Mohan Yadav nor the BJP had officially responded to the allegations at the time of reporting.
