New Delhi, January 3: Delhi airport authorities issued an advisory on Friday warning passengers that flights not equipped with CAT III compliance could face disruptions due to prevailing dense fog conditions in the national capital.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the authorities stated: “While landing and takeoffs continue at Delhi airport, flights that are not CAT III compliant may get affected.”

Passengers have been urged to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding flight schedules.
“Passengers are requested to contact the airline concerned for updated flight information. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted,” the advisory further noted.
Foggy Conditions and AQI Levels in Delhi
As dense fog continues to blanket the city, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 9.6°C at 5:30 a.m. by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the ‘very poor’ category at 348.

Support for Homeless Amid Chilly Weather
The Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has set up 235 pagoda tents and several night shelters across key locations, including AIIMS, Lodhi Road, and Nizamuddin Flyover, to provide relief to homeless individuals.
Residents were seen huddled around bonfires and seeking refuge in shelters as temperatures dipped further in the city.
Cold Wave Grips Northern India
The dense fog and cold wave are not restricted to Delhi alone, with northern states experiencing similar harsh weather conditions:
- Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Recorded a minimum temperature of 8°C at 3:30 a.m. Temporary shelters have been set up to support the homeless population.
- Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir: The temperature plunged to -1.3°C at 5:30 a.m., intensifying the cold wave in the region.
As winter tightens its grip, authorities are urging citizens to take precautions, remain updated on travel advisories, and avoid unnecessary travel during early morning and late-night hours.
