Following the deadly Malviya Nagar fire, the Delhi government has initiated a major enforcement drive against buildings violating safety and construction norms.

June 4, 2026: The Delhi government has launched a strict crackdown on buildings found violating regulations in the aftermath of the tragic Malviya Nagar fire. Authorities have announced a large-scale enforcement campaign aimed at identifying and taking action against properties that fail to comply with prescribed safety and building norms.

A joint committee led by the District Magistrate has been constituted to oversee the operation. The committee will begin inspections and enforcement activities in Malviya Nagar from today, focusing on structures suspected of violating approved guidelines and safety requirements.

Officials said that buildings found flouting regulations will face immediate action, including sealing of the premises. The move is part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen compliance, improve public safety, and prevent similar incidents in the future.
