Amid continuous downpour and widespread waterlogging, the IMD has issued a red alert for the capital, disrupting flight operations and affecting travel for thousands.

August 9, 2025: A lot of rain has fallen in the National Capital Region since this morning. This rendered many areas soggy and kept people from doing their regular jobs. A lot of people who drove on major highways had to deal with huge traffic problems and delays because of the torrential rain that started late Friday night and lasted till Saturday.

Panchkuian Marg, Mathura Road, Shastri Bhawan, R.K. Puram, Moti Bagh, and Kidwai Nagar have been struck the hardest by waterlogging. People can’t get to work because traffic is moving slowly or not at all at well-known areas like the Barapullah Bridge and the Zakhira Railway Underpass. Many flights from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi have also been late.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had put the city on red alert, however that is no longer the case. On the other side, the weather report suggests that there will be more storms and rain during the day. People who live in the region have been warned to be alert and think about taking the Delhi Metro or another means to go around to avoid getting stuck in traffic.
