Delhi Jal Board announces disruption due to emergency work at Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant

April 15, 2026: Parts of central and north Delhi are set to face water supply disruptions as the Delhi Jal Board announced a temporary shutdown of the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant due to emergency maintenance work. The plant will remain non-operational for around six hours on April 15, leading to low pressure or interrupted water supply across several areas on April 15 and 16.

Localities expected to be affected include Hindu Rao Hospital and nearby areas, Kamla Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Karol Bagh, Paharganj, Rajinder Nagar, Patel Nagar, Baljit Nagar, Prem Nagar, Inder Puri, and parts of Delhi Cantonment and south Delhi. Officials stated that while the disruption may not be as severe as previous incidents, residents could still experience reduced water availability.

Authorities have urged residents to use water judiciously and rely on tanker services if needed. The Chandrawal facility, one of the oldest in the city, has faced repeated breakdowns in the past, including a major disruption in March caused by pipeline damage that took several days to fully restore supply.
