The Chief Minister urged citizens to complete the Special Intensive Revision process and ensure their voter records are updated before the deadline.
June 30, 2026: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday urged voters across the state to actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by submitting their enumeration forms before the July 29 deadline. After submitting his own form, Shivakumar said the house-to-house distribution of forms by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) had begun across Karnataka. He encouraged voters to use either the physical forms or the online platform to complete the process and stressed the importance of safeguarding the right to vote.
The Chief Minister said voters could update their mobile numbers, replace old photographs, and provide Aadhaar details for identification purposes during the exercise. He added that Booth Level Agents (BLAs), BLOs, and supervisors had formed WhatsApp groups to assist voters. Shivakumar also clarified that any responsible adult family member could sign the enumeration form on behalf of relatives who were away and assured that those uncomfortable with the mobile application could simply fill out the physical form.
Shivakumar also indicated that electoral records could eventually be linked to eligibility for government welfare schemes, stating that benefits should only be extended to genuine residents and eligible voters of Karnataka. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has launched the month-long SIR exercise across the state. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, claims and objections will be accepted until September 4, and the final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on October 7.
