July 24, 2026: The Union Education Ministry is expected to make a major announcement at 8 PM on Friday, with significant reforms to the National Testing Agency (NTA) likely to be unveiled. According to sources, the proposed measures aim to strengthen the examination body’s functioning following the alleged 2026 NEET paper leak and growing demands for greater transparency and accountability. The move comes amid continued calls for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The expected announcement follows the second round of talks between leaders of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and Union ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh. The nearly two-hour meeting ended without a final decision, as the Centre sought additional time until Saturday to respond to the demand for Pradhan’s resignation. According to CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, the government agreed in principle to two of the protesters’ demands but deferred its decision on the minister’s future.
During the meeting, the CJP reiterated its three key demands: the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, ₹1 crore compensation for families of alleged NEET victims, and the withdrawal of all FIRs and legal cases against protesting students. The party also submitted a five-point examination reform charter. The protests, centred around alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination, continue as demonstrators push for sweeping reforms to the country’s examination system.
