Devendra Fadnavis assures strict action as probe into Tata Consultancy Services Nashik case intensifies

April 17, 2026: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has termed the allegations emerging from a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) unit in Nashik as “very serious,” assuring strict action as investigations deepen. The case, which includes allegations of sexual harassment and forced religious conversion, has led to multiple arrests, with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the matter. Fadnavis emphasised that no one involved would be shielded and acknowledged the company’s cooperation in the investigation.

In a significant development, a local court has remanded two accused, Raza Rafiq Memon and Shafi Bikhan Sheikh, to police custody till April 18. They face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including provisions related to sexual harassment and outraging the modesty of a woman. The duo had earlier been in judicial custody in a related case before being re-arrested.

So far, seven employees linked to the TCS Nashik unit, including a woman HR manager, have been arrested across multiple cases. Complaints filed by eight women employees allege sustained harassment and inaction by the HR department, along with claims of attempted religious conversion. TCS has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy, confirming that the accused employees have been suspended, as the case continues to draw attention to workplace safety and corporate accountability.
