Drug Control Department intercepts fake injections before Delhi delivery, launches major investigation
April 19, 2026: Acting on a tip-off, the Drug Control Department conducted a raid and intercepted a consignment of counterfeit injections before it could reach Delhi. The vehicle used to transport the drugs was seized, and the driver was taken into custody. Authorities, along with the police, have initiated a detailed investigation into the case.
Drug Control official Mandeep Chauhan said the original injection, produced by an Italian company, is meant for diabetes treatment but is increasingly being misused for weight loss, leading to rising demand in the black market. He confirmed that efforts are underway to trace the source of the fake consignment and identify everyone involved in the supply chain, with strict action expected against the culprits.
Another official, Amandeep Chauhan, advised the public to buy medicines only from licensed chemists and ensure proper bills and packaging verification. Samples of the seized drugs have been sent for laboratory testing, and cases will be registered under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act based on the findings. Officials reiterated Haryana’s zero-tolerance stance on counterfeit medicines and said similar enforcement actions will continue.
