Former Indian cricketer and actor Yograj Singh has been booked in Chandigarh over alleged derogatory remarks against women featured in a viral clip from a web series.

According to reports, an FIR has been registered at the Sector 36 Police Station under Section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 62A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. The action comes after a video circulating widely on social media triggered outrage and criticism from several users online.

The controversial clip is reportedly from an episode of the Hindi web series Lukkhe. In the scene, Yograj Singh’s character is shown inside a police station allegedly making objectionable remarks about women. The clip quickly went viral across platforms, leading to calls for legal action against the former cricketer.

Police officials confirmed that an investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Yograj Singh, who is also the father of former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, has frequently been at the centre of controversies because of his outspoken comments.

Earlier this year, he faced backlash over remarks made during an interview while discussing retirement decisions in cricket and the influence of family members on players’ careers.

Speaking to InsideSport in March, Yograj had claimed that wives often influence cricketers to retire early. He also stated that women should not interfere in the “legendary journey” of a sportsperson, comments that drew criticism on social media.

During the same interview, Yograj also commented on veteran Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma amid debates surrounding age and retirement in international cricket.

He criticised ongoing discussions around retirement and argued that players should continue representing the country as long as they are performing at the highest level.

Both Kohli and Rohit have retired from T20 Internationals and Test cricket and currently play only in the ODI format for India.
