A 48-year-old tourist from Haryana has gone missing during a solo trek in Uttarakhand’s Valley of Flowers

June 11, 2026: A massive search operation is underway in Uttarakhand’s Valley of Flowers after a 48-year-old tourist from Haryana went missing during a trek. Gabbar Singh, a resident of Faridabad, failed to return on Tuesday evening, prompting forest officials, police, and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams to launch an extensive rescue mission. Authorities said search efforts continued for a second consecutive day, but no trace of the tourist had been found.

According to Nanda Devi National Park Divisional Forest Officer Abhimanyu, drones were deployed to scan difficult and inaccessible parts of the valley. Search teams have explored all possible routes and locations where the missing trekker may have travelled. Officials said the operation will continue until Singh is located. Investigators also discovered that the mobile number provided by him at the entry gate was incorrect, making communication and tracking difficult.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that Singh had reportedly been living away from home for the last two years and was leading the life of a Nihang Sikh. Authorities are also examining whether he may have exited the park through an alternate route. Meanwhile, Chamoli Police have issued a fresh advisory urging trekkers to share travel details, hire local guides, carry safety equipment, and avoid venturing alone into challenging mountain terrain, especially amid worsening weather conditions.
